Lifespan Of Household Systems

As our homes age, so do the systems. Some questions I’m asked as a real estate agent almost daily: How long do I think the A/C system will last? Is it time for a new roof? Do you think my water heater will go out soon?

First, I recommend contacting a licensed professional specializing in the particular system (I have lists of vendors). Second, I give them this infographic created by ZOLO. It’s a great tool to understand all of the systems in the home and an estimate of when things may need repairs or replacements.

ZOLO defines the lifespan as the length of time the appliance or component is expected to last before it needs to be replaced. This is a great tool for homeowners to use when planning home maintenance budgets or big home improvement projects. Of course these are just estimates and some systems may last longer if properly maintained (schedule your HVAC tune-ups!) and some things just aren’t made like they used to be (water heaters, I’m talking to you!). Keep this graphic handy and your home systems healthy!
