San Diego County Fire Zones Updated
For the first time in 14 years, the Office of State Fire Marshal has released updated Fire Hazard Severity Zone maps for San Diego County, showing an increase in areas designated as very high fire risk. San Diego County high fire zones have increased 26% since 2011. The maps released in late March show which homes are either in a very high, high, or moderate fire zone. Cities with the biggest jumps in very high hazard zones included Carlsbad, Chula Vista and Del Mar, all of which nearly doubled their acreage from the 2011 map. If you are thinking of selling in the future and your home is located in a high or very high fire zone, there will be an additional step you will need to take care of before listing your home.
